Wall Street has taken typical retirement accounts on a wicked roller coaster ride -- a ride that we would call 'The Baby Boomer Zoomer & Doomer' -- often featuring much more Doom than Zoom...

(Associated Press; June 1st) -- "Stocks were hammered last month because of concerns about a global slowdown. The Dow had its worst May since 1940, losing nearly 8 percent. All 30 stocks in the index fell during the month. The Dow has dropped in nine of the past 12 trading days."

(Yahoo Finance TechTicker; June 1st) -- "After stocks had their worst May in more than 60 years, June is getting off to a bumpy start. Following steep declines in Hong Kong and most European markets, U.S. stocks fell sharply at the open before mounting a mid-morning recovery."

And if participants ever catch their breath long enough to make a rational assessment of the precarious position of sovereign debt, the 'safe-haven' floor may fall out from under Treasury bonds, transforming that creaking Wall Street amusement into, simply, 'The Boomer Retirement Doomer'. The only "zoom" in the room will belong to those few who had the foresight to buy and hold some physical gold.
