A mere 685,000 pre-1933 Chilean 100 Pesos, 4.4 million Columbian 5 Pesos, 6.5 million Argentina 5 peso and 7.5 million Mexican 5 Pesos were minted. All of these coins are in uncirculated condition except for the Argentina 5 Pesos, which are extra fine. We have just 40 of the Chilean coins -- available through allotment purchases only -- making this an extremely limited offer. Historical Commentary:
Hyperinflation has been a chronic problem in Latin and South American countries over the past century. Private wealth has been destroyed time and time again by fiscally irresponsible governments and monetary debasement. In Argentina, a single 5 pesos gold coin offered in this special now holds the same modern purchasing equivalent as 500 TRILLION of the original pesos denominated in the coin. In Uruguay, it would require savings of more than 3.5 BILLION of the original paper pesos to equal the value found in a single ounce of gold comprised by four of the Uruguay 5 Pesos coins featured here. Mexico, Chile, and Colombia all experienced similar inflationary periods that left paper currency and bank deposits virtually worthless. Only those who safely stored their wealth in gold were able to weather these hyperinflationary periods.
